The Brain

Cerebellum = Functions

Sensory areas interpret afferent impulses

Motor areas control muscular movement

Associated areas function in emotional and intellectual process

Basal ganglia control gross muscle movement and regulate muscle tone.

  Location/Structure

Two hemispheres divided by the longditudinal fissure

Connected internally by the Bundle of transverse white matter called the Corpus Callosum

Each Hemisphere is divided into four lobes: Frontal ; Parietal ; Occipital ; Temporal

The outer layer is convoluted to increase the surface area

Composed of Cells or Grey matter.

Within are Nerve fibres or White matter

    Connections

Connected to all other parts of the Brain and Spinal Cord
